Canadian Electronic Collection of Air Transportation Statistics
In the early 2000s, the Canadian Electronic Collection of Air Transportation Statistics (ECATS) was launched to enhance the quality, scope, and timeliness of air transportation statistics. The program supports government policy development, planning, and informed decision-making across the aviation sector.
What is the Canadian ECATS?
The Canadian ECATS is a mandatory reporting program applicable to aircraft operators providing services within, to, or from Canada. Reporting obligations and periods vary depending on the type of flights and the size of the aircraft operated.
Did you know?
ECATS data is shared under formal data-sharing agreements with Statistics Canada, Transport Canada, and the Canadian Transportation Agency.
What are the obligations under the ECATS?
Aircraft operators with reportable flights within, to, or from Canada must:
- Create an account in Transport Canada’s ECATS portal.
- Submit the required information electronically through the ECATS portal by the end of the month following each reporting period.
